School

With the first month of school under our belt, we find that we are pretty much settled into the new routine. It is a time of adjustment; adjusting to getting up early, being ready to leave home at the same time every day, new class schedules, new teachers, and all the homework. It reminds us that we can change and adapt, which is a good thing.

Sports

We have been watching a lot of volleyball, soccer and football. Tess and Madeleine are both doing well and are really enjoying being on Waterford volleyball teams. Tess got to go with the varsity team to a tournament in Wendover, Nevada. They got to miss a day of school, ride the bus together and spend the night in a hotel. The team came back in first place which was very exciting and Tess had a wonderful time with her friends.

Madeleine and Clark are both having fun playing soccer and so far the weather has been great. It is fun to be outside on beautiful Fall days! Hopefully the weather will stay nice in October!

Miscellaneous

Elliot is working on a piano piece from the Harry Potter movie for his upcoming recital. I say working on, but it is more like he is obsessed with learning it. Consequently we all have the tune playing over and over again in our heads! How fun, to see that much enthusiasm!

Phillip and Loren and both enjoying and still adjusting to the college experience. They love BYU and are making good friends. The tests and papers are starting to kick in and a month away from home and family can seem like a long time. So, they are looking forward to coming home for General Conference. We have missed them too. The house is quieter even though we still have four children!

The days at home are quiet for me. I stay busy with the house, shopping and projects. I am enjoying my institute class taught by Michael Wilcox - we are studying the Old Testament, starting with Moses in the Pearl of Great Price. At the beginning of each month, a group of ladies on our street go to the Temple and have lunch together afterwards, which is a lot of fun. It is fun to begin doing these things again.

Fall is such a great season. I look forward to cooler temperatures, flannel sheets, beautiful colors, pumpkin pie and caramel apples.
