First Day of School

So, school finally started again -- much to Clark's great happiness and Elliot's and Madeleine's dismay. Oh, and of course I was happy, too . . . summer is fun, but it can get kind of long towards the end. So, everyone has settled into the new school routine and for the most part I think everyone is happy with teachers and friends. The homework we could all do without!

Temple with Phillip

On Saturday, September 8th, we took Phillip to the temple for the first time. We decided on the Bountiful Temple -- it has my favorite Celestial Room! Pat and Wally came with us and we had a really nice morning together. I know it was initially a little overwhelming to Phillip, but he has been several times since and is really enjoying it. We have had fun visiting all the different temples in our area. We are starting to get Phillip ready for his mission now and it is exciting to know that it is only 5 weeks away!

Loren

We got a camera card full of fun photos from Loren this month. I have included several with his descriptions. He is doing great and seems to be enjoying a lot of success with his latest companion, Elder Bautista. He doesn't even complain about the weather too much, saying that they haven't had a bad summer this year in Laredo. All the storms and hurricanes that have headed towards Texas have been interesting for us all to follow, but each time he has not been in any danger so we feel blessed. It is hard to believe that he only has 5 months left!

Snow

I don't think we have ever had to turn the heat on in September before! I also don't think I remember it snowing in September before, but it did and I (of course) actually took a couple of pictures to document history in the making. Does this mean we will have a really wet winter? I hope we still have a few more beautiful fall days ahead of us. I love fall although it tends to make me miss my mother more -- she loved fall!
