After 4 months, still no visa to Peru. So disappointingly, Elliot was reassigned from the MTC in Lima Peru to the Provo MTC. We decided to just be grateful that he wasn’t asked to wait 6 weeks before reporting! The crazy/hard thing is that his girlfriend, Kelsey, as a missionary headed to Argentina, entered the Provo MTC the same day and within hours of being there their paths crossed! Hopefully they won’t see each other too often! 🙂
The initial report is that Elliot is doing great and enjoying the MTC and his new companion. Â Of course we miss him, but are so proud of him for being willing to serve his Heavenly Father by sharing the gospel with others.
As a fun new project Phillip has written two poems set to video. The one about horses he did for school and enjoyed it so much he decided to make another one. He asked me for some of my sunset pics…I love it!
Memorial Day weekend always brings birthday celebrations. Loren and Phillip turned 28 on May 28th and Tess turned 25 on June 3rd. Phillip flew in from Oregon to spend the weekend with us. It was a great weekend…Elliot gave his missionary talk in sacrament meeting (all the family came over afterwards), we celebrated Memorial Day and three birthdays! It was definitely a weekend full of family. My mother passed away on Memorial Day 16 years ago. I so wish my parents could be here sharing all these great times with us…I’m sure they are more a part of our lives than we realize. I’m sure they are watching over us all!
David and Debbie Gutierrez are our good friends from Arequipa Peru. David is in fact originally from Cusco Peru. We decided that before Elliot left for his mission we needed to sit down to dinner together and hear all about Peru. They still have family in Cusco and are so excited for Elliot!
After 4 long years of hard work and dedication, Madeleine graduated this week from BYU majoring in Print Journalism with minors in Editing and German. I think we can say that she embraced college! From the classes to magazines and newspapers, from all the sports to the many many friends, she loved it all and definitely got her money’s worth!
Claudia (88 years old this June) got to meet Kenyon for the first time today. Claudia married Floyd Breinholt as his second wife in 1975. Floyd Breinholt is father to my mom, Karen Breinholt Morgan, who is my mom and of course, I am mom to my son Loren who is father to little Kenyon.
Madeleine turned 22 and Alan turned ?? oh, I think it’s 53? We had the traditional Halusky dinner with Poppyseed birthday cake – fun evening together with the fam!
