FLOYD EMIL'S BIRTHDAY SONG

Lyrics by his children

Sung to the tune of 'Twas the Night Before Christmas

'Twas the night before Christmas in 1915 [nineteen one five]
And Jenny Marie thought she'd never survive. Ooh, Ooh.
Wilford was nervously pulling his hair,
Hoping Floyd Emil would soon be there. Ooh, Ooh.

They knew from the first, when they looked in his wee little eyes,
That Floyd was an artist; they knew cause his pig won the prize!
From Snow then to Manti, he learned and he taught;
After looking around, a sweetheart  he caught! Ooh, Ooh.

Then all of a sudden, they came one by one;
Three beautiful daughters and one handsome son.
He taught at the Farrer, was in Bishoprics too,
Then a new house on Cherry and then B.Y.U.
Then what to his wondering eyes should appear,
But a family grown and grandchildren dear.
Then he married Claudia--lively and quick--
And also her sons:  Greg, Dave, Scott and Rick.

More rapid than eagles his grandchildren came,
and he whistles and shouts and he calls them by name:
The Duerdens, the Morgans--some short and some tall--
the Riches, the Breinholts and he loves them ALL!

An absent-minded professor is he, by his wife we've been told.
When he drives in his Jeep, there is nothing to keep his mind on the road.

Oh he is a humorous guy, he tells funny jokes;
and we laugh and we laugh and we laugh and we laugh 'bout those Sanpete folks.

(girls) Oh he loves to go--- (boys) ho, ho, ho!
(girls) For a trip he's a wishing--- (boys) hee, hee, hee!
(girls) When he goes to paint--- (boys) ho, ho, ho!
(girls) Then he ends up fishin'--- (boys) ha, ha, ha!

Oh he has a shiny, bald head--just like old St. Nick's.
With a wiggle of his ears, to his grandchildren's cheers, he does magic tricks.

(Boys)
When we're here Christmas Eve, we have no need to fear. . .
He'll never run out--of home-made root beer!

(Girls)
When we opened our gifts from our Grandpa we knew
The gift was for us--by the portraits he drew.

And we wish you the best at this gay Christmas Season.
We think it was fun and we hope it's been pleasin'.

We all love you Dad, Grandpa, Great Grandpa too.
And we want to say:  Happy Birthday to you.
