BYU Sports
It has been a fun month of attending and watching the final football games and the beginning of the basketball games. Since I am a fair-weather fan, basketball is my personal favorite — besides the fact that it also only takes 2 hours to play! We appreciate being invited to Alan's parents to watch many of the games on their big screen TV — go, Cougars!
Waterford Finals
Clark and Elliot have finished up their first term of school. They did well on their finals and were very excited to have Thanksgiving break to look forward to as a much needed rest.
Now that Melinda and her family live in Arizona, the extended Morgan family thought it would be fun to take a road trip down to have a warm Thanksgiving with them. Not everyone was able to make it, but my brothers Mark and Matt and their families came, and with us and of course Melinda's family we had a good sized group of 22. The tricky thing at this time of year is dealing with the weather during the Utah part of the drive. The drive down went well, except that around Nephi, something to do with our wiper fluid decided to freeze making for interesting visibility given all the winter weather spraying up off the road and of course off the semi trucks!
We got there safely though and enjoyed three days of sunshine, yummy food and fun with all the cousins. My sister's husband, Jared, says that his favorite part of Thanksgiving is all the food preparations — he is one happy man in his kitchen. We all pitched in to help and the Thanksgiving dinner and leftovers were delicious!
It was nice to be able to go for walks, play in the park and sit out by their pool. The pool isn't heated so we weren't really swimming, but Clark got it in his head that he might want to jump in and finally after some pressure from the group, decided to take the plunge. We have it on video if you want to watch! It was fun to see interesting cacti, pretty flowering trees, lemons and pomegranates growing in peoples yards. And of course, I always love palm trees.
The trip home was fine until we left St. George and headed into the predicted and somewhat scary storm. Alan is a good driver and Madeleine was willing to ride shotgun so that I could be a Nervous Nelly in the back seat trying to pretend I was on a warm beach in Hawaii! Besides dealing with the storm, we also had the great luck to have our front blower quit working, so that we couldn't blow heat or defrost the windshield. Yeah, winter driving is definitely not my favorite thing. As the 12 hour drive turned into a 15 hour drive, we were very grateful to arrive home safely.
Loren and Anne drove up to Idaho to spend Thanksgiving with the Bogues, so they also had a scary ride home Sunday, but arrived safely. Thanks to everyone for your prayers on our behalf.
