We decided to surprise Madeleine with her own violin for her birthday/graduation gift. She was with her teacher at a violin competition and we arranged to meet them afterwards. We parked in the back so that Madeleine wouldn't see our car. We wanted her to be really surprised!
 She got to try out several violins.
 Madeleine's violin teacher, Kathy Morris, was so helpful in helping Madeleine choose the best violin for her.

 We did cheese and steak -- yum.

It has a beautiful rich tone and she plays it really well.
 This was Grandma's first outing following some hip surgery. I think she was glad to get of the house for a bit!
 Birthday socks -- Madeleine has a thing for socks.
 The birthday kids -- Alan and Madeleine opening presents together. By the way, just for the record, Alan isn't wearing birthday socks.
Elliot and Clark sent Madeleine on a treasure hunt to find her gift.
 After running all over the house, she found the great bag and wallet from Land's End that she had been admiring.
 Alan received a number of "edible" gifts. Is that a good thing...or a bad thing?
