The 16th of September is when Mexicans celebrate their independence from Spain. The 16th was the begining of their war with Spain, equivalent to our 4th of July. Being so close to the border, this holiday is widely celebrated. The ward party included traditional Mexian dances by some of the sisters and songs sung by three of the brethren.
