Loren's Mission

Loren on the right with his companion Elder Bodily and another set of missionaries in Edinburg, Texas.
Loren attending the baptism of a family in his area. (He didn't give us their names, and I don't think he actually taught them.)
Anyone hungry for some Tex-Mex?
So here it is, the mandatory cockroach picture -- argh!
Loren with his district in Edinburgh.
Who says you can't keep up your baking skills while in the mission field? If you don't read Spanish, it says Family Home Evening on the cake.
This is Loren's first attempt at weaving icing -- whatever! I can't even comprehend it...
Another impressive cake -- who is getting to eat all these cakes anyway?
Loren with his last district in Edinburg.
Elder Brown and Elder Moore saying goodbye in Edinburg.
Brother Carrasco's son -- the elders call him Carrascito. Pretty cute, huh?
The 16th of September is when Mexicans celebrate their independence from Spain. The 16th was the begining of their war with Spain, equivalent to our 4th of July. Being so close to the border, this holiday is widely celebrated. The ward party included traditional Mexian dances by some of the sisters and songs sung by three of the brethren.
Elder Winkel -- Loren's companion in Weslaco. FYI: His Uncle (Elder Winkel) gave the second talk in the first session of General Conference last week.
Loren modeling the first splint and sling after sustaining a small wrist fracture following a small biking accident resulting in being awarded the use of the car. Gee, some people will do anything to get out of riding a bike!
Then, the much better second splint -- apparently some kid asked him if he had been hitchhiking too much! Maybe that would be a good way to meet people?
