When the tide is high you can't get to the lighthouse by foot. Consequently there are some cool tide pools when the tide is low.
People are currently living in it.
Because of the mild climate year around, Smith River, California is the Easter Lilly Capital of the world. Brookings, Oregon (where we stayed) is just a few miles north of Smith River and has plenty of lilies itself.
There are fields and fields of them.
The sad attempt to fly the kite with not enough wind.
It is out of focus, but Clark and Elliot had run out to stand on the rock, thinking that the tide wouldn't come up past them -- they were surprised to find out how wrong they were!
Quick! Get off the rock before the next wave hits!
Headed back up to the house to change out of their wet pants!
Hurry back out so we can roast marshmallows.
Bring on the marshmallows!
How fun is this?!
Elliot, Tess and Phillip testing the water.
Oh my gosh -- it's so cold!
Clark showing off our collection of rocks, shells and driftwood.
Saying good-bye to our beach.
Back in the car ready to head to California.
