This is the Grande Ocean Marriott where we stayed. It's hard to take a picture from that vantage point, so we just bought a post card.
Thanks to Alan's parents for a Marriott Week for Christmas!
It was a beautiful resort with a couple of gorgeous but cold swimming pools.
We had fun watching the closing ceremonies of the Olympics on Sunday night. But we were used to being able to fast forward all the commercials because we had recorded it at home, so we all had books to read during all the down time.
We really enjoyed watching all the Olympics as a family this year!
We decided we would try out their exercise equipment. They had a really nice set up and we all had great machines.
This is the view from my elliptical machine -- pool and ocean both! It could give a person a reason to exercise!
It was a beautiful beach -- just a bit colder than it was supposed to be...
They typical temperature for March is around 70 degrees, but because of a cold front that blew through the whole east coast, it barely hit 50 degrees. Apparently it was around 60 degrees in Utah that week -- go figure!
As we drove around Hilton Head we discovered The Salty Dog Cafe. We didn't eat there because it was closed for some renovation, but Alan did treat himself to a new hat.
The men folk weren't too much interested in shopping, so while I did a little looking around, they all had a rousing game of frisbee.
I have learned that you always take a frisbee on vacation!
One night we headed out for groceries and discovered a Piggly Wiggly. Of course we don't have them here in Utah, so the boys and I decided that we each needed a piggly wiggly t-shirt. That left Alan to go get the groceries while we pondered over sizes and colors.
On Wednesday we took a day trip across the border to Savannah, Georgia. We decided to take the trolley tour around town so we could see and learn a lot about the area.
The first stop was the Savannah History Museum which was housed in the original Savannah train station.
On behalf of our dentist grandpa, we took this photo of an old Georgia Dental Office!
