Elliot Brown - The President of the United States in the National Museum of American History.
They wouldn't let us take pictures, but I loved seeing the Star Spangled Banner that flew over Ft. McHenry. You can see it here in the postcard, superimposed over another flag to show you how much of the original flag is really missing. If you can believe it, someone decided to cut out one of the stars to have as a souvenir! This is the flag that inspired Francis Scott Key to write our National Anthem.
This guy's back was aching from picking strawberries in California. Elliot's back is aching from walking around museums for hours!
Here are some of the kids - not in front of a door in the White House, just a pretend door in the Museum of American History.
Looking at statues in the Hirshhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden.
Clark trying to get in good with The Wright Brothers in the Air and Space Museum.
Alan is standing there looking at how big just one rocket engine is - imagine three of them!
Alan, just a little tired after a day of walking around DC.
Visiting with Alan's cousins Ann Barker and Louisa Dalton Huddock. They both live in the DC area. The Dalton girls (Rachel Dalton Knudson also lives there) invited us to a BBQ dinner and Ann took us to church and had us over for Sunday dinner. How great are relatives?
We spent Sunday afternoon visiting Arlington National Cemetery - the Washington Monument is behind Tess's head.
Watching the changing of the Guard at The Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. Just when we thought it was over, they had a wreath ceremony and another soldier came out and played "Taps" on his bugle - it felt very patriotic to be looking over Washington DC while listening to his bugle.
The first memorial we visited was the Jefferson Memorial. It was so cool.
